Pioneer’s new DDJ-1000 RekordBox DJ Controller.

The Pioneer DDJ1000 has full size jog wheels with built in full colour displays, 2 banks of 8 performance pads and a full size 4 channel mixer with traditional effects controls over RekordBox.

Where do we start with the DDJ-1000? It’s big, bigger than the DDJ-RX but not as big as the DDJ-RZ, the full size wheels do take up most of each side of the controller. Pioneer have managed to squeeze in a pitch fader in a slightly ‘off’ position, but it’s there non the less. Noticeably missing are the traditional effects controls above the jog wheels, however this is beautifully fixed in the mixer section.

Back to the jog wheels though, they have the same size and feel of the CDJ2000, even tension adjust, and have a stunning full colour display built in.

This display gives track information such as waveform, artwork, track position, cue points, pitch, key and deck information. All the information displayed is customisable to show what the user wants.

The rest of the deck controls are fairly standard for todays controllers, 8 multi coloured performance pads with multiple modes including Keyboard Mode as well as loop controls, deck selection and track browsing.

Mixer

ddj1000 fxThe DDJ-1000 has a 4 channel mixer similar to the DJM900 NXS2, with input level meters and colour FX per channel as well as three band EQ. The real difference here is effects section, there are 14 beat fx in total which include 4 new ones : Enigma Jet, Mobius Saw,  Mobius Triangle and Low Cut Echo. The controls for this are typical of a Pioneer DJM mixer so using the software FX is as straight forward as it could be.

The connectivity of the mixer amazingly versatile with dual USB for connecting 2 computers at the same time, phono and line inputs for turntables or CDJs ad two mic inputs. The mixer can be used in standalone mode even without a computer connected. The DDJ-1000 is also DVS compatible with the optional RekordBox DVS expansion pack.

Combined, the controller and mixer section give unparalleled control over RekordBox DJ with the new version 5.1 release.

Features of RekordBox 5.1 include a new Automix function to mix a preselected playlist smoothly while you can still apply FX. There is also a new advance related track function to match tracks using improved search criteria.

The Pioneer DDJ-1000 is available to Pre-Order priced at £1059 inc vat.
